Set Up PiPit
- Install PiPit from the App Store, then open the PiPit app once.
- Choose the button to open Safari Extensions preferences.
- Enable PiPit in Safari, then allow it on the websites where you want automatic PiP.
- Open PiPit from the Safari toolbar to adjust per-site and playback behavior.
Common Fixes
- If a video does not pop out, make sure the video is actually playing and the website is allowed for PiPit in Safari Extensions settings.
- If tiny previews are popping out, raise the Minimum size option in PiPit's Safari toolbar popup.
- If muted videos should pop out, turn on Muted videos in the popup.
- If Picture in Picture closes when you return to a page, turn off Return on focus.
- If one website should never use PiPit, turn on Never on this website from the popup.
Website Limitations
PiPit uses Safari's native Picture in Picture support. Some websites customize their players, block Picture in Picture, or use video technology Safari cannot expose to extensions. PiPit will respect those system and website limits.
