Overview
PiPit is built to work with Apple accessibility features across its main macOS app, Safari extension popup, and website controls. The Picture in Picture window itself is provided by Safari and macOS.
Supported Features
VoiceOver
PiPit uses labeled controls for primary app and extension settings.
Voice Control
Common settings are exposed through standard switches, menus, and buttons.
Larger Text
The app and site use system text and responsive layouts where practical.
Dark Interface
PiPit supports light and dark appearances on macOS and this website.
Differentiate Without Color Alone
Core states use labels, switch positions, and layout in addition to color.
Sufficient Contrast
Text, iconography, and controls are designed for clear contrast.
Reduced Motion
This website respects the system Reduce Motion setting.
Common Tasks Covered
- Enable or disable PiPit from the Safari extension popup.
- Disable PiPit on the current website.
- Choose the minimum video size PiPit should consider.
- Turn return-on-focus behavior on or off.
- Choose whether app/window switching, scroll-out behavior, and muted videos can trigger PiP.
- Open Safari Extensions preferences from the containing macOS app.
Notes
- Video playback controls and the final Picture in Picture window are handled by Safari and macOS, so those controls follow Apple's system accessibility behavior.
- Some websites customize their video players or block Picture in Picture. Their controls and labels may vary outside of PiPit's app UI.
